Latest Product, Testing, and other info...10-1-04 - Loki items are now in stock and ready to sell. The H and I reloads can legally be shipped through the post office without and HAZMAT charges! 9-4-04 - A first order was placed for Art Applewhite saucers, we are hoping to see these great rocket kits in shortly! 9-3-04 - The first Loki Research order was placed including motors and ARTS flight computers. We are anxiously awaiting this new line of motors and impressive flight computers! 7-21-04 - HALO Parachutes are now being offered to the public and SFSM Industries will be the sole distributor! These are 4 line cup parachutes with low porosity to allow for smaller chutes on heavier rockets. 2-13-04 - Aerotech motors will be added to the product list shortly. Final paperwork and negotiations have finished, the first order will be placed shortly. 8-23-03 - Sky Ripper Systems put on two demo flights at MIS. The H150 and I 160... High thrust and tracking smoke as well, I was extremely impressed.These motors will be available through SFSM as soon as they are certified! - Sue Fennelly put her first flight on a Scott's Special 0 using a G64-4. Before the flight she asked me if there was too much shock cord included... I would have included more if there was room! A longer then expected delay proved the need for a long shock cord. 8-15-03 - Sky Ripper Systems was officially announced as a motor manufacturer of Hybrid technology. The motors will be available through SFSM Industries as soon as they are certified! 7-23-03 - SFSM Industries receives first order for G-Wiz electronics 6-18-03 - BATFE inspects SFSM Industries larger storage facility and grants us approval for storing up to 70,000 lbs of rocket propellant! Large orders have been placed and will arrive shortly. 5-10-03 - SFSM helps Mark Palmer fly the first successful hybrid M motor in Michigan for a L3 certification! 5-4-03 - SFSM successfully tested the cryogenic fill station allowing others to benefit from the less expensive price opposed to many automotive fill stations. 3-26-03 - SFSM Industries is now accepting credit cards. The first steps were also taken to become a Nitrous Oxide dealer! 12-17-02 - Paperwork for LEDP arrives, new storage arrangements are made to allow for more product. 11-22-02 - The ATF inspected SFSM Industries storage magazines and gave approval for the Low Explosive Dealers Permit. 11-16-02 - JMRC used the Hypertek system for the first time after a donation from SFSM Industries. Mark Palmer made a gorgeous flight with a K240 to an altitude of 3,200' 8-24-02 - Scott's Special 2 flies at Michigan International Speedway on a Kosdon by Aerotech K400. Slow flight without any deviation in flight profile, altitude was 2,300' - Mark Lytle flew the Scott Special 0 on a G64-7W proving to be another beautiful boost, unfortunately the parachute was not fully deployed and stuck inside the airframe. After a hard impact the damage was only a cracked fin joint, not flyable but easily fixable. 7-20-02 - Scott's Special 0 built by Mark Lytle was flown at the Jackson, MI Hot Air Jubilee on an Aerotech F40-4W. There was a gorgeous slow boost but the delay lasted for roughly 6 seconds. Luckily there proved to be enough shock cord to keep the rocket safe and zipper free! 6-1-02 - Scott's Special 0 was flown for the first time after being built by a beginner, in fact I convinced my own mother to build her first mid-power rocket only using my written instructions. The bird was flown on an Aerotech F20-4W and an Aerotech F23-4FJ. Low flights and extremely stable. 5-11-02 - Scott's Special 2 flies at Muskegon Rockets for school on a Kosdon by Aerotech K600. Altitude was unknown due to the water landing, flight was straight as an arrow. 4-21-02 - Scott's Special 3 flies on a Kosdon M2240 to an altitude of 4,987' in 15 knots of wind. A gorgeous flight with minor wind cocking. Modifications were made using a kevlar lip glassed into the airframe which is now offered as an option with the kit. This kit was built to fly the larger motors which will be stable with up to an N2000W - Scott's Special 2 flies on a Kosdon L1000 to 4,200' The parachute did not deploy from the nomex bag causing the rocket to land sideways. Total damage was a slight crack in the external glue fillet. The rocket could have been flown again without repair. 3-16-02 - Scott's Special 3 has maiden flight on a Kosdon M1130. The wind was pushing 16 mph/15 knots. There was a slight wind cock, not more than 5 degrees. Due to the wind the apogee ejection was at a high velocity zippering 18 inches of fiberglassed airframe. Altitude read out was 4,200' |
